Student Life
Charlotte, 2022 RMF Fellow:
“Being able to perform on stage with my chamber group…was one of the best feelings in the world. I got so involved in the music in that moment that I forgot everything else and just played.”
Anonymous, 2022 RMF Fellow:
“It's an incredible privilege to have the opportunity to listen to the world-class faculty perform every weekend.”
A Day-in-the Life
-
All accepted student fellows reside in the new student residences under counselor supervision in Boys’ or Girls’ A-frame cabins. Students are assigned roommates based on their sex and age.
-
Student Life Staff will oversee the students, ensure safety, assist with activity planning, and will reside in the students’ residence.
Student counselor applications (age 18+) are available under “Employment”.
-
All meals will be provided by the Festival as part of the Meal Plan (see Fees & Deadlines for more information.)
-
All students will attend weekly faculty performances. Outdoor recreation activities will coordinated by the Student Life staff. On weekends and in the evenings, students will attend field trips to attractions such as Mount Rushmore, the Wind Cave, Downtown Rapid City, the Badlands National Park, hiking, and more.
-
All classes function on A/B schedules in such a way that if a student's lessons are on Mon/Wed the chamber music coachings are on Tues/Thurs.
Fridays are reserved for studio classes, masterclasses, and additional lessons/coachings.
There are no classes on weekends, except individual practice and chamber music rehearsals. Weekends are reserved for field trips and faculty concerts.
